MAI Systems:
As a trusted electronics contract manufacturing outsource partner, BCP Systems excels in aiding customers through mission critical transitions.
When Olivetti acquired the on-site service arm of MAI Basic Four, there was an immediate need for a trusted outsource partner to handle the depot repair and logistics of MAI's peripherals and CPU products. The challenge: Keep operations going with absolutely no disruption of service. Already skilled and knowledgeable in the MAI product line, BCP Systems was up for the challenge and stepped in with the right facility and infrastructure in place to seamlessly assume responsibility. BCP Systems also retained the vast local knowledge of the MAI product line to be outsourced by hiring MAI's skilled technicians. The next tasks at hand were to train management and orchestrate a complex transfer of operations from MAI's facilities to BCP Systems Placentia, California headquarters. In less than 30 days, the team was trained and ready to go. The transfer of operations occurred over a weekend. The result was BCP Systems was successfully able to continue repair and shipment of products to the field without any disruption. "It would have been impossible for Olivetti to take a job of this magnitude on without BCP Systems. They are experienced and adept at not only transferring physical inventory but ensuring the skills and knowledge of the technicians are in place - all without missing a beat. For BCP Systems, it's all about quality service and on-time delivery," Pat Mungari, General Manager of MAI Systems.
While SONY Transcom had outsourced 80 percent of its cable assembly to a lower cost operation, the high-mix, low-volume nature of its specialized cables required the company to retain 20 percent of its cable assembly in-house. SONY Transcom desired a more cost-effective alternative and turned to BCP Systems to customize an outsource solution that would allow the company to pay on demand instead of having to support a costly workforce. The company's high-end cables required a knowledgeable, highly-skilled work force to assemble each cable's 2,000+ parts. BCP Systems first contracted with SONY Transcom's employees to train its management and work in-house. A plan was then orchestrated for BCP Systems to transfer SONY Transcom's equipment, parts and labor to BCP Systems' facilities over a six-month period. With orders coming in directly to BCP Systems, SONY Transcom was able to substantially reduce overhead.
Riverside, Calif.-based Luminex Software, Inc. acquired Data|WARE, a leader in the optical storage industry, from Anacomp in 2000. Following its strategic acquisition, Luminex Software needed a solution for the manufacture and assembly of its newly acquired Data|WARE product line: a complex, mainframe-attached, high volume CD production product. When Luminex acquired the Data|WARE product line, Luminex did not have any in-house manufacturing capabilities and needed a solution in place immediately after the closing of its acquisition. BCP Systems responded by quickly customizing a complete outsourced manufacturing and assembly solution to best meet Luminex's specific needs. BCP's solution included immediately taking over the inventories, procurement, manufacture, assembly and configuration management of the Data|WARE product line, as well as the repair of products and subassemblies to support Luminex's on-site field service operation. BCP Systems provided comprehensive logistics support to maintain, catalogue, track and replenish inventories and to provide timely and accurate shipment of products directly to Luminex's customers. After over three years of providing professional, quality manufacturing and assembly services to Luminex, BCP Systems transferred responsibility to Luminex for the Data|WARE product line once Luminex had established its in-house manufacturing and assembly capabilities. Among other applications for Fortune 1000 companies in the banking and financial services, healthcare, prepress, government and education markets, Luminex's Data|WARE enterprise systems solution is currently being used to produce in excess of 15,000 CDs in a 64-hour period monthly for the largest banking institution in the United States. Michael Saunders, Luminex's President, stated, "BCP Systems' high quality, comprehensive manufacturing and assembly services allowed Luminex to concentrate its efforts on successfully integrating and enhancing the Data|WARE product line, instead of the difficult task of initiating an in-house manufacturing operation, while maintaining very high customer satisfaction."
