Home MEI (Mars) MAI Systems/Basic Four New $100 Bill Contact US In an effort to reduce counterfeiting, the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing has been issuing new currencies at a faster rate than in the past. The new $5 bill entered circulation on March 13, 2008. Here is what you need to know to upgrade your MEI bill validator to accept the new currency: MEI Series 2000 bill validators Upgrades are done via the Bill Programming Module (BPM). BPM modules will include the $5 upgrade software in them. There is no charge for the software. BPM price is $220 each (part number 250062183). If you have a previously purchased BPM for the Series 2000, beginning Feb. 1, 2008 BCP Systems will be able to download the new software onto your BPM for a nominal fee. MEI Series 2000 $5 Upgrade Field Bulletin MEI Series 3000 bill validators Can be upgraded using a Bill Programming Module (BPM) tool. Pricing is as follows: BPM and cable with 25 credits - $385 (part number 111633237) BPM and cable with 50 credits - $585 (part number 111631238) BPM and cable with 100 credits - $1,065 (part number 111639239) BPM and cable with 200 credits - $2,085 (part number 111634240) BPM and cable with 1000 credits - $10,085 (part number 111632241) If you have a previously purchased BPM for the Series 3000 and want to add credits, please call BCP Systems Customer Service at 1-800-984-6759 for instructions. MEI CASHFLOW SC bill validators You may download new software in one of the following ways: 1) Remote download, 2) Download via laptop on site, 3) Via Punch Programming Module (PPM) Remote download and on site laptop method: Can be done via purchase of Support Tool Suite (STS). Price is $347 (Part number 252069074) $5 upgrade Software price: $10 per credit or $1000 for unlimited downloads (Part number LIC5) Via PPM STS tool is needed in addition to PPM. PPM handheld tool pricing is $140 (part number 760591001). STS price is $347 (part number 252069074). $5 upgrade software price: $10 per unit or $1000 for unlimited downloads (part number LIC5). For customers that have a previously purchased PPM and STS, MEI tech service will send a variant file to load the $5 upgrade software. Upgrade software pricing will apply - $10 per unit or $1000 for unlimited downloads (part number LIC5). SODECO BNA5 BILL ACCEPTORS MEI has created a variant to accept the new $5 note. The inclusion of the new $5 note into the USA Country variant brings the total number of notes ($1 - $100) in the variant to 17. This complete country variant will not fit in most BNA5 bill acceptors currently in service in the US as most of these units have a 13 note memory configuration. BNA owners can decide between one of two options when planning to update their bill acceptors to accept the new $5 note. 1. Return the bill acceptor to MEI in Geneva, Switzerland for a memory upgrade. This upgrade will expand the capacity of the memory from 13 to 30 notes. For the introduction of the new $5 MEI is offering a special promotional price of $240 (normally $480). This price includes parts, down load of the new $5 bill set, test and labor. Any additional work and material that might be required to get a nonfunctional returned unit operational would be invoiced at standard repair price. 2. MEI has created a variety of "short" variants. Short variants are variants customized to fit into a 13-note memory capacity BNA5 bill acceptor. In order to get the number of notes in the short variant down to 13 certain notes have been removed. For example we can supply a short variant that will accept the new $5 note but does not contain $50 or $100 bill information. We've already created a wide variety of these short variants. If we don't have a short variant that meets your needs we will be happy to create a new short variant to fit your application. Download Requirements Customers who have their own copy of Sodeco Support Tool with working Dongle can down load the variant themselves. Customers who do not have a copy of Sodeco Support Tool can return their units to an authorized Sodeco service center for upgrade or purchase a copy of Sodeco Support Tool in order to perform the downloads themselves. In addition to Sodeco Support Tool you will also need to purchase the specific new $5 variant you wish to download into your units.
